Coronavirus: useful tips for redecorating the house during the upcoming lockdown weeks
Following the dramatic events of the last few weeks, the country is going into lockdown. To prevent the further spread of the COVID-19 virus, which has already put the entire country's healthcare system under stress, the government has taken the difficult but necessary decision to quarantine the entire nation. This means no schools, working from home and, for many of us, several weeks at home. It is of paramount importance to be responsible and limit our social interaction to an absolute minimum. Together, we can get through this difficult time.
As a result, many of us find ourselves in the very unusual situation of being forced to spend a substantial amount of time at home, and we all need to restructure the way we spend our days. Without being able to go out, to the cinema, to a museum, to a restaurant or even to go shopping in a mall, this is not always going to be easy. We will and should, of course, try to spend as much time as possible with our children and loved ones, but the hours are long, and boredom can take over. A viable option, one that is in compliance with government regulations, is to undertake a small project to renovate the home.
Maybe you have been thinking about it for a long time, it’s one of the projects that you were hoping to get done for years but somehow you never found a way to fit it into your busy schedule. That ugly wall has been staring at you for months, but during the weekends you needed to chill and unwind after a long week at work. Your holidays are sacred, and you rightly wanted to go out somewhere instead of renovating the house. It’s therefore easy for such projects to remain just one of those “unticked” items in your "to do list".
But now? There is no better opportunity than the current time! As we are forced to stay at home, a nice little project to do up our house could really be the ideal solution to keep our minds and hands busy, maybe even involving our children and family.
Since we face a period of possible economic uncertainty, it’s useful to remember that wallpaper is one of the cheapest ways to freshen up your home. Maybe it’s the living room that need a splash of colour, or the bedroom of your fast-growing children who might need a space that reflects their current taste. The right wallpaper can help you create an entirely different atmosphere without having to completely renovate and refurbish. It can be put up with little effort, without requiring the assistance of professionals coming to your home, plus it can be effortlessly purchased online, without having to visit shopping malls or furniture stores.
Moreover, we are approaching the most suitable period of the year to apply wallpaper: spring is just around the corner so you can leave the windows open during the day to let the walls dry, but it is still not overly hot, which would make the whole process of hanging wallpaper more complicated.
Why not look around your home and assess which space may need a new look? Remember that there are wallpapers specifically designed for each room, even for "damp" environments such as kitchens and bathrooms.
Once you have decided which space needs refurbishing, choose the most suitable wallpaper according to your taste. You can also browse our collections divided by room type:
